The new lens is built with three aspherical elements including a newly developed, extremely precise XA (extreme aspherical) element that reduces aberration and delivers the ultimate resolution throughout the entire zoom range and aperture range, as well as from corner to corner of all image files. Additionally, an ED (Extra-low-Dispersion) glass element and Super ED glass element keep chromatic aberration to a minimum while maximizing resolution and bokeh without any unnatural coloration. The lens features a 9-bladed aperture that maintains a near circular shape at all settings and is coated with Sony's original Nano AR coating to suppress reflections and ensure spectacular contrast and clarity.

Very easy to use, great bokeh and fantastic contrast. One of the best lenses out thereNotable drop off on the corners when wide open and zoomed back to 24mm. Large Heavy
This is one of my favourite lenses. Arguably the f4 24-105 has higher resolving power for the 60Megapixels of the mkIV a7 but to be honest Ive not noticed too soft details from my photos.

The lens hood is nice and sturdy with its locking button and the side button is handy, even though many people dont programme its use.
I shoot with this lens almost always at f2.8 and quote like the drop off in the corners as frames the subjects very nicely.
70mm at f2.8 is stunning for portraits and is a great every day lens. Its a little expensive compared to the 24-105 but in my opinion absolutely worth it despite the lower resolving resolution and zoom reach. Being able to shoot below f4 and its contrast are just unparalleled.
