Tokina 24-70mm f/2.8 AT-X PRO FX SD

(From Tokina lens literature) Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce the new AT-X 24-70mm F2.8 PRO FX.

Three all-glass precision molded aspherical lens elements combined with three super low dispersion (SD) glass elements yield maximum resolution. Additionally, our optical engineers have been able to reduce light fall-off for even illumination across the entire image and control edge-distortion common among other lenses in this focal length range. Optimized optical formulas produce exceptional contrast, color and clarity for crisp, sharp images.

Chromatic aberrations are corrected and controlled through the use of three SD super low distortion glass elements (G09, G10 and G14) arranged in the rear lens group. The G09 lens is a non-spherical convex lens of a large diameter (more than 30mm) and is super-low dispersion glass with a very high processing difficulty level. This is arranged in the neighborhood of the diaphragm and corrects spherical aberration. The G04 lens is arranged in front of the diaphragm, and the G15 lens is behind the diaphragm.

These arrangement are symmetrical positions against the iris location, and astigmatism aberration and distortion are reduced effectively. Precise and exceptional quality multi-coating is applied to the surfaces of the two front lens elements (G01 and G02) in the first group and on elements thoughout the lens. This reduces reflections to control or eliminate image-degrading flare and ghosting.
