posted Friday, September 6, 2019 at 7:30 PM EDT
It's another relatively short roundup this week for our regular Firmware Friday series, with just two companies releasing updates for a total of four cameras in the past seven days. This time around it's Canon and Leica we'll be discussing, with one update for the PowerShot G7X Mark III, and one apiece for the Leica M10, M10-P and M10-D.
Let's get right down to what's new!
Canon PowerShot G7X Mark III
Canon's firmware update for the PowerShot G7X Mark III hasn't been released yet, so we don't know what version number it will carry, but the company has announced its development with expected availability by the end of October 2019. Changes will include better speed and accuracy for video autofocus, as well as improved subject detection performance. Watch this space!
Leica M10, M10-P and M10-D
The closely-related Leica M10, quieter-shooting M10-P and LCD-free M10-D have all received updates to firmware version 2.7.5.0 in the past few days. All three models share the same main changes, as follows:
-
Fast continuous shooting in Live View mode.
Fixed screen freeze issue in ‘Continuous High’ mode, while using Live View. -
Incorrect regional GPS information.
There were regional deviations in the GPS information. This bug has been fixed.
(Please Note: GPS functionality requires the use of the Leica Visoflex EVF). -
Stability of the connection between the camera and Leica FOTOS.
Fixed connection issue between camera and app with more than 800 images on the camera. -
General software improvements for operating stability.
On top of these, the M10 and M10-P also receive one additional change:
-
New QR Code for Leica FOTOS.
The camera generates an optimized QR code for the connection to the app.
